Kundalini Yoga
Nothing like Hatha Yoga at all. Don't expect sun salutations or warrior poses!

Kundalini Yoga is the science of rhythm, movement, breath and sound. Kundalini refers to consciousness raising, and is directly associated with the Chakra system.

The exercises in KY consist of various kriyas (routines), consisting of different exercises in each routine. The exercises are usually vigorous, repetitive movements combined with powerful breathing. Sometimes they are static holds. The exercises last usually 2 minutes and require immense energy, followed by 1 minute of complete surrender and stillness. The class alternates between exertion and surrender on a physical level, which takes the mental and emotional aspects to neutral centeredness. This Yoga burns toxins as well as inches!!

You will strengthen and at the same time increase range of motion faster and more powerfully than any other practice there is. It is extremely detoxifying on both the physical and energetic levels. Suitable for all levels. Do what you can. Honor your limitations as well as your strengths. Students are encouraged to stop when they need to, and join in again after a short rest.

The main thing to remember is this is a practice, not a competition

Gentle Yoga
Studies show, You are as young as your spine is flexible.

Do you feel tight all the time? Wake up with a stiff back, shoulders, joints? This class is for all ages and athletic ability (or lack of it).
The practice incorporates moving the spine in the six different ways it is designed to move. We use bolsters or blankets to lengthen and open the spine, and straps to re-education the shoulder and hip joints to open. It is an easeful practice, facilitating the body's own healing process in overcoming postural imbalances, injuries, and limited or impaired range of motion. Join us in a laid back, languishing practice and leave feeling like a new person!

Beginner Hatha Yoga
Yoga students are considered beginners for the first ten years of their practice.

Whether you're brand new to yoga or have been practicing for awhile, there's always something for you in a beginner class.
This class teaches classic yoga asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing) techniques for stress management, and how to really truly relax. Usually, but not always, the routine takes you through a traditional yoga experience...

-begin with a few quiet moments to center and inspire
-warm ups
-Sun Salutations
-balancing asanas
-back extension asanas
-forward bending series
-twisting and inversion asanas
-core strengthening
-yoga nidra (deep relaxation)
-closing Om

When we vary from the routine listed above, it will be to focus on students particular needs, and may devote the time to opening hips, addressing knee issues, feet awareness (after all,the feet are the foundation of the structure of the whole body!), or working with shoulder openers.

On a physical level, you will accelerate your heart rate, strengthen and lengthen muscles, increase spinal flexibility and lung capacity, improve range of motion. On a mental/emotional level, you will gain more clarity, learn how to stay cool in times of major stress, clear the chaos from the mind, and strengthen your connection to your intuition. On a spiritual level, you will have a more mindful awareness of the enormous supportive energy which exists to guide you on your path.

Level 1/2 Hatha Yoga
This class takes the beginner class up a step. The pace is a little faster, but asanas are held longer. More challenging postures are introduced. Advanced pranayama techniques and use of mantra are introduced. Some classes may explore the use of chanting and meditation, depending on the intentions and desires of the students present.
